The monthly rate of inflation fell to point one percent from 8.7 % in January to 8.6% last month.
This rate of inflation is the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over a 12 month period.
Acting Government Statistician, Dr. Philomena Nyarko, attributed the downward trend in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group.
The food group had a weight of 44% while the non-food group weighed 55.09%.
According her, the transport sector recorded an appreciable inflation rate of 17.0% last month.
She said inflation rate in the regions ranged between 5.3% in the Upper East and Upper West Regions while the Central region recorded 13.2% being the highest in the month under review.
The Western and Ashanti regions also recorded an inflation rate of 11.2%.
The highest inflation rate of 9.2% was recorded in February 2011 and the lowest of 8.4% in July, August and September 2011.
